01Install

One snippet, pasted once, powers your whole site. Your personalized snippet — with your license key already filled in — is on the page you landed on right after purchase, and in your receipt email thread.

  1. Copy your install snippet.

    It looks like this (yours has your real key):

  2. In Squarespace, open Settings → Advanced → Code Injection.

    You'll need a plan that includes Code Injection — Core or higher on current Squarespace pricing, or Business or higher on legacy plans. (The Personal plan doesn't include it.)

  3. Paste the snippet into the Footer box and save.

    That's it. The plugin loads on every page but stays invisible until you use it.

Designer or Agency license? Use the same snippet and the same key on every client site — Designer covers up to 10 sites, Agency up to 25.

02Your first button

  1. Open your site editor and click + on any page.

    "Add to Calendar" appears in the block menu, right alongside Squarespace's own blocks. There's also a calendar icon in the text toolbar.

  2. Fill in the event.

    Title, date and times, location, description — the builder shows a live preview that matches your site's fonts and colors as you type.

  3. Click Create button.

    The button drops onto your page. Visitors who click it choose their calendar — Google, Apple, Outlook, Office 365, Yahoo, or a universal .ics download — and the event lands in it, correct time zone and all.

Editing a button you've already added

In your site editor, click the calendar button once to select it, then click the CalButton icon in the block's toolbar (it sits alongside Squarespace's own Edit and Remove icons). The builder reopens with every field — title, dates, calendars, style — already filled in. Change what you need, click Update button, then hit Squarespace's Save. Each button you've placed is edited on its own this way.

03Styling & layouts

CalButton reads your site's own typography and colors, so buttons look native out of the box. The builder's style options let you go further:

Layouts

Single button opens a dropdown of calendar choices. Row of buttons places each calendar as its own button — good for landing pages where you want every option visible.

Icon styles

Logos (the default) shows each calendar service's real logo. Logos · theme color tints them to match your palette. Minimal uses simple marks for quieter designs.

Every style choice lives in the builder — you never touch CSS. But if you want to, the button ships with stable class names you can target from Design → Custom CSS.

04Event pages — automatic

If your site uses Squarespace's Events pages, CalButton upgrades them without any work from you:

  1. Event detail pages

    Squarespace's plain "Google Calendar / ICS" text links are replaced with a proper CalButton — by default a button matching your site's primary button and that section's color theme, with the full calendar menu and the event's real description in the invite.

  2. The calendar / list page

    Each event gets a tidy "Add to Calendar" text link under its listing by default, so the page stays clean.

Editing the event-page buttons

These are styled all at once, not one at a time — their details (title, date, description) come straight from your Squarespace events, so there's nothing to fill in. To change how they look, open the Event Page Button Builder: in your editor, click the pink ✎ Style chip next to any event button (it only shows while you're editing). Set the style, layout, calendars, icons, and label — you can choose these separately for the event pages and the calendar/list page — then save. Your choices apply to every calendar and event button across your site at once.

Turning it on or off

It follows Squarespace's own setting: in your Events page settings, the Show Export Links toggle (under Advanced) controls it. Toggle off, and CalButton turns off for your events pages, too.

Event page buttons inherit their look from your site automatically. The in-builder "Event page" tab shows a preview of both views.

06FAQ

Which calendars are supported?

Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook.com, Office 365, Yahoo Calendar, and a universal .ics download that works with everything else. On iPhone the .ics option opens straight into the Calendar app.

Will it slow my site down?

No. It's a single small file — about 70 KB, roughly the size of one small photo — and it loads after your page does, so it never holds up how fast your site appears. No heavy frameworks, no third-party trackers.

Does it send my visitors' data anywhere?

The calendar links and .ics files are generated right in the visitor's browser, so the click itself never routes through a third-party server. Your visitors never need an account, and there are no click limits or metering.

Are time zones handled correctly?

Yes — events are stored as exact universal instants, so a 6:30 PM event in your time zone shows up at the right local time for every visitor, everywhere.

One thing to check: your site's own time zone setting (Settings → Language & Region). If that's set to the wrong region, Squarespace itself mislabels your event times, and every calendar tool — ours included — inherits the mistake.

Does it work with Squarespace 7.0?

CalButton is built and tested for Squarespace 7.1, which is what Squarespace sites use today. We haven't tested it on older 7.0 sites, so we don't want to promise it'll work there. If you're not sure which version you're on, email us at [email protected] before you buy and we'll help you check.

Can I add a button to a regular page, not just Events pages?

Yes. Once the plugin is installed, open the Add Block menu on any page — a landing page, a campaign page, a product page, anywhere — and choose Add to Calendar. It doesn't have to be an Events page.

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds are available within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked.

07Troubleshooting

SymptomFix
Block doesn't appear in the + menuCheck the snippet is in Footer (not Header) under Settings → Advanced → Code Injection, saved, and that you've refreshed the editor tab once after saving.
Button looks plain for a split secondThis can happen the very first time a page loads, while the button styling catches up. It clears on its own in a moment, and your visitors won't normally notice it.
A change I made isn't showingPlugin updates can take up to ~5 minutes to reach every visitor (CDN caching). Hard-refresh (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R) to see it immediately.
Event shows the wrong time in calendarsYour site's time zone is likely set to the wrong region — Settings → Language & Region. Fix it there and re-save the event.
Buttons vanished, console mentions a licenseThe key was used on more sites than the plan allows, or the key is mistyped in the snippet. Compare against the key in your receipt — and if it's a domain-limit surprise, email us at [email protected] and we'll sort it out.
Event page buttons missingCheck Show Export Links is on in that Events page's settings (Advanced tab). CalButton follows that switch.

08Support

Email us at [email protected] — it reaches a human (the person who built this), usually within a day. Include your site's URL and, if something's visibly wrong, a screenshot. Lost keys, domain-limit fixes, weird templates: all fair game.
